Even if not “going online” the information found on the noted page should be produced – as it will be invaluable to book promotion. Once produced, it can also be used (or re-used) as a press kit basis.

Don’t lose sight of marketing (in any form or format) being an ongoing effort. Never look at a strategy as “one and done”. It should continue and plans evolve – unless you have sold out of a planned, definitive edition and have no plans of ever again republishing.

To look over an 8 week case study an no-nonsense check list of how to assist any event host in boosting marketing, foot traffic, and interest, read the article, How to Fill a Room by Ellen Cassedy (reprinted with permission). This is a great blueprint for every stop on a marketing tour or junket. However, for multiple local events, it would have to be adjusted, so as not to make friends and local contacts begin to tune you out.

Follow this link to a great article: It reminds that, though genealogy is a major hobby, there are both good and bad ways to get others involved in your interests.

Not all free PR is good: What to do about a review that doesn’t truthfully represent the published content? Look long and hard at the item and seek other’s input – is there even a grain of truth to it? Address any facts before moving onto untruths. In print, contact the publisher – any ethical publication will strive for an unbiased product, though reviews are still many times considered opinion. Think positive: This contact may lead to more press that may not have happened without this extra follow up.
