Too much of a good thing: While technology exists to jam pack content on a page, and layer it with digital watermarks, don’t use it in such a way that it splits the reader’s attention too much. You don’t want readers feeling like they have a puzzle book that is hard to read.

Looking for other ways to have your manuscript “at hand”? A tablet may be a better compromise between a desk or laptop and a phone. Again, Android users can download MS Word app for free, while Windows users can access MS Word for free, while online. Many of today’s tablets can also attach keyboards, mice and wireless printers with ease while having robust memory (both speed and capacity).

Retreat 2016 Date Update Monday, Jun 6 2016

Apologies to all who have seen our printed flyers. We just found out from a lovely lady in Topeka that we’ve been printing the wrong dates on the flyers! While we will have bonus pre-retreat activities on Sunday, October 2 for full package attendees – the 2 day retreat starts on Monday the 3rd. Please feel free to share the corrected flyer far and wide. A fill-able PDF format flyer is available at our website.FlyerPhoto

Retreat 2016 New Speaker Tuesday, Mar 8 2016

Joe Bott will be joining us at the retreat to discuss and enlighten us about many positive facets of his free web project Dead Fred. His online photo archive has harnessed the power of networking to put identifications to photographs for many years – since before crowd-sourcing was popular. Visit the Retreat online for more information.

2013 Retreat Canceled Tuesday, Sep 3 2013

ImageUnfortunately, after booking to near capacity for our October Retreat, Sky Ranch at Cave Springs informed us our ranch house availability was reduced by at least 5 hours, due to a new group’s needs. This was unforeseen as our 2013 schedule mirrored 2011, and the completed SRCS contract did not address time frame. While still welcome on this Christian campus, alternatives would have drastically reduced the retreat experience.

We are sorry to announce that have found no comparable alternative and have canceled. We thank Julie McClain, Guest Services Specialist and Doug McClain, Camp Director for their efforts of August 28, 2013.

We have enjoyed our relationship with Cave Springs, since 2003, and everyone seems to have a wonderful time there. We wish all those attending SRCS during our originally scheduled dates the best.

October 26-27 Retreat Basic Schedule Filled Monday, Mar 11 2013

Times are yet to be confirmed and there may still be surprises, but here are the 11 learning opportunities on tap for package attendees at this time:

Comic look at the pros and cons of stereotypes in research
