New Gregath shipping and handling starts February 1 Thursday, Dec 20 2012

United States Postal Service (USPS) rates go up January 27, 2013. While we were able to not raise our rates the last time USPS did, our standard S&H will rise from $11.00 for first item to $12.00 for first item (additional items remain the same at $2.00 per). We will allow a small grace period and plan on implementing the raise in S&H February 1, 2013.

Please note that we did not change our S&H when USPS raised rates in 2012, but the 2013 9% average raise wasn’t one we could absorb.

Did you know that MS Office 7 has made it easier to learn programs you may not have used before? If you can make something happen in Word, more than likely the same process will work in PowerPoint, and perhaps Publisher or Excel!

December 2012 E-Zine (V11#12): Marketing Wednesday, Dec 19 2012

If you didn’t use your Christmas communications this year to spread the word about your publication, begin now to think of how to incorporate it into next year’s greetings:

  • Add information to stationary
  • Include a book focused insert – perhaps free post cards, a book mark, coupon, etc.
  • Mention a new book development in annual letter
  • For genealogy – request a small bit of specific information (don’t forget the SASE is by USPS)

December 2012 E-Zine (V11#12): Production Wednesday, Dec 19 2012

Consider using an archival photo mounting sleeve to place an actual photograph within your book. Today’s options can be easy to use and self-adhesive. Dedication to a special individual? Give your book buyers a special keepsake by placing a real picture within their book. This can “upgrade” a book by placing the photo and sleeve over a printed photo. Just one of many things that can go into producing a deluxe or keepsake edition. A lower lifetime idea would be to place on the book cover.

December 2012 E-Zine (V11#12): Design Wednesday, Dec 19 2012

Top reasons to publish electronically:

  1. Allows for inclusion of non printable items such as audio and video

  2. Allows for format augmentation that may not be budgeted for in print.

  3. Easy to update and enlarge – no waiting to sell out of stock for new “improved” edition.
