May 2012 E-Zine (V11#5): Marketing Monday, May 7 2012

Especially if speaking at an event that you are not otherwise compensated for, don’t forget to ask those in attendance to, not only spread the word about your book, but also if they can think of any other groups who might enjoy you as a speaker.  Don’t be shy about taking contact information and following up the leads.

Free Seminar this September – Save the Date & Share! Wednesday, Dec 7 2011

The 2012 Gregath Family History Seminar will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Baxter Springs History Center and Museum in Baxter Springs, Kansas. There is no charge to attend the lectures and no registration necessary.
More information and updates can be found at http://www.gregathcompany.com/workshop/2012

The national genealogy speakers on staff at the Gregath Company, Incorporated would like to help you be a successful family researcher.  In this economy, many researchers are forgoing attending these types of events because they feel the cost of attendance is too high. While the information you gain and networking available pays dividends far into the future, Gregath Company understands this way of thinking. We hope a day of free seminars and face to face networking will enrich everyone’s lives and researching skills.

July 15 Deadline for Retreat on the lake 2009 Monday, Jun 29 2009

Lake Shore DawnRetreat on the lake 2009 registration deadline is fast approaching. If you have put off reserving your space until the last minute, now is the time. July 15, 2009 is when we will decide if the retreat is viable in the 2009 economy. Originally, this was the discount reservation date. However, if budgets can not be stretched to include discount registrations, we know most can not include the luxury of a full price retreat.

October 2006, V5 #10: Genealogy Friday, Mar 20 2009

Part of a genealogy or history related service or social organization? Consider having an ancestor round table. Everyone bring their knowledge and an ancestor. In turn, each give a brief case study of the ancestor and ask for suggestions of your fellows. If you have enough members interested, it could even be open to the public as a membership event, or fund raiser.

November 2005, V4#11: Marketing Thursday, Jan 29 2009

Using your contact information, follow up your initial press release with subsequent releases such as a report on sales, family gatherings, signing party, new projects, special offers/sales (holiday free shipping, contributor/family discount), etc.

May 2005, V4#5: Marketing Wednesday, Jan 28 2009

At workshops, frequently we wear our surnames, be they as a list on our name tag, on our note taking material, or on our clothing.  Consider having a shirt made promoting your book(s) and wearing it to family, genealogy and research repositories and/or gatherings.

August 2004, V3#8: Marketing Tuesday, Jan 27 2009

Consider advertising “novelties” as an alternate form of marketing.  Are you going to a reunion or large genealogy workshop?  Have a shirt made up that advertise your project or start conversations.  Pen and pencils may also be a way to sell by starting conversations, as might a number of other items.
