Do you think your project(s) can benefit from more information? Consider putting together a press/media kit. These can be sent to all media outlets, as part of a proposal to book stores, to those you are approaching for a book-related event, to bulk sale targets (such as a school system for children’s books), etc. Don’t prepare a press kit and reproduce it faithfully throughout your book promotion. If you get bad reaction to something, drop it or update it. If you keep getting the same questions, try to address them in future kits.

The USPS now has three different “shoebox” sizes of priority boxes for your convenience. This works extremely well for small format books, as the small box costs less to ship.

Can I do webpages easily myself?
Webpages can be done easily with Microsoft Word, but that’s only half the battle. For a basic billboard/order page, just use a free FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program you can download for free. Build your page like any other document. When saving, choose “save as” a web page – usually named index (check your ISP for naming requirements). Next, FTP your MS Word built file to your online address (URL-Universal Resource Locator). For a nice author site, you’ll want your own domain i.e. yourname.com or yourbook.com, as well as an easy to navigate site that contains several informational pages.
